Frenzy was improvised with minimal overdubs, attempting to play organ and sing at the same time with limited to no success. Lyrics are derived from a golden era comic book hero with a random method of reading.


Chris Forsyth writes in the 2009 Blow Up publication, Desert Island Discs:
Shawn Hansen is a bandmate of mine in both Phantom Limb & Bison and Dirty Pool, and he's collaborated with Peeesseye as well. I've released two of his projects on Evolving Ear, including the best Christmas album ever produced. He is a brilliant multi-instrumentalist and composer from [Kansas]. He is one of the most forward thinking creative musical minds that I know and certainly the most single-minded and independent. He has been recording steadily since childhood and at this point he's recorded more complete CD or LP length works than most artists ever do. But, for the most part, he only gives them to his friends and family on his own Sycamore House label. He is totally sane (as sane as any of us, anyway) and not an "outsider" marginalized by society or circumstances beyond his control. He simply doesnt play the professional game with his art in order to cultivate an audience. Frenzy is a collection of 7 tracks, all of them titled Frenzy, which captures him in Farfisa-centric song mode. It is somehow tuneful, innocent, sincere, funny, old, new, terrifying, personal, and universal all at once. And it's barely music. It's as if he could take his thoughts or dreams and directly realize them in sound. Amazing.
