about

This album is a companion to GRAIN Synthi AKS in what was originally released as a double album. It was recorded in Brooklyn in September and October of 2001 in a small cottage in Bed/Stuy. It also belongs to a long tradition of organ improvisations called the Organ Works. As the tracks from GRAIN Synthi AKS are named after types of edible grains, the tracks on this album are named from wood grains using the tree types from the yard I grew up in.

All multiple tree tracks are accompanied by a duel sine wave track as well as the Farfisa organ part, except for the Sycamore section which is a composition for Farfisa and 10 colored pencils (used as wedges).

Instrumentation:
Farfisa Compact Mini
2 Hewlett Packard tube sine wave oscillators
