LEAST MOTH-EATER (LME) was the first attempt to codify an evolving aberration in Shawn Edward Hansen's musical work. The instinct was and is to let go of professional standards, conventional musical training and expectations and embrace mediocrity as a medium in an attempt to let the music and the music practitioner/s to find creative release and safety. This project took several months to record and mix and ironically the album, FRENZY, also by Shawn E. Hansen, was recorded in a few days during this same time period and in some ways better embodies the abandon that The Brothers Zoto were attempting to achieve. This record, with its long gestation period, is stunted in a unique way, opening up to a wider horizon of mediocrity. Abandon, randomness, and self-shadowing are all disciplines requiring practice. As a first attempt, this album is mediocre in its own attempt at mediocrity.
